After a 10 hour drive home (due to an accident) I am finally just about unpacked and ready to get back into my routine around here. Today’s recipe is one I made Sunday evening for supper as my brother and all his family came over to eat. There was barely a drop left in the crock pot, many going back for 2nds and 3rds. It is a variation of my cabbage and ground beef skillet that was posted a good while back, using what Mama and Daddy had on hand and adding a few other things not in the other recipe. Daddy said it reminded him of swamp cabbage, so that’s what we decided to call it. It’s absolutely delicious, I made a big pone of cornbread to go with it and Daddy fixed up some fresh corn on the cob along with fresh green onions out of his garden.

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 Pound ground beef.
• 1/4 Pound ground breakfast sausage.
• 2 cloves garlic minced.
• 1 Teaspoon chili powder.
• 1 Teaspoon brown sugar.
• 1 Teaspoon smoked paprika.
• 1/2 Teaspoon salt.
• 1/2 Teaspoon pepper.
• 1/4 Teaspoon red pepper flakes.
• 1 med. head cabbage, chopped.
• 1 Large onion, chopped.
• 1 Karge carrot, shredded.
• 1 Rib celery, diced.
• 14.5 Ounces can fire roasted tomatoes, with juice.
• 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar.
• 2 Tablespoons butter.
• shredded cheddar cheese for serving.

INSTRUCTIONS:

-Brown the ground beef and sausage in a skillet, breaking it up as it cooks.
-Drain well and add the garlic and next 6-ingredients.Cook for 2 to 3minutes.
-Transfer to your crock pot and add the remaining ingredients, minus the cheese.
-Cover and cook on low for 7hours or high for 5.
-Serve with shredded cheese.

ENJOY ENJOY!♥♥
