Texas Sheet Cake

TEXAS SHEET CAKE

YOU’LL NEED:

2 C. all-purpose flour
2 C. white sugar
1 Tsp. baking soda
1/2 Tsp. salt
1/2 C. sour cream
2 Eggs
1 C. butter
1 C. water
5 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
6 Tbsp. milk
5 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 C. butter
4 C. confectioners’ sugar
1 Tsp. vanilla extract
1 C. chopped walnuts (optional)

HOW TO MAKE:

1-Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10×15 inch pan.
2-Combine the flour, sugar, baking soda and salt.
3-Beat in the sour cream and eggs.
4-Set aside. Melt the butter on low in a saucepan, add the water and 5 tablespoons cocoa.
5-Bring mixture to a boil then remove from heat.
6-Allow to cool slightly, then stir cocoa mixture into the egg mixture, mixing until blended.
7-Pour batter into prepared pan.
8-Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

For the icing:

9-In a large saucepan, combine the milk, 5 tablespoons cocoa and 1/2 cup butter.
10-Bring to a boil, then remove from heat.
11-Stir in the confectioners’ sugar and vanilla, then fold in the nuts, mixing until blended.
12-Spread frosting over warm cake.
