NANNIE HEMBREE’S CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE

INGREDIENTS:
• 1 Cup [2 sticks] unsalted butter, softened [do not use margarine.]
• 1/2 Cup shortening [like crisco.]
• 3 Cup sugar.
• 5 large eggs, room temp.
• 3 Cup all purpose flour.
• 1/2 Cup cocoa powder, unsweetened.
• 2 Teaspoons baking powder.
• 1/2 Teaspoon salt.
• 1 1/4 Cup milk.
• 1 Teaspoon pure vanilla extract.
INSTRUCTIONS:
-Beat together the butter, shortening and sugar till nice and creamy, about 5mins.
-Add the eggs, one at a time, beat well.
-Sift together the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.
-Alternately add the dry ingredients and the milk and beat until well combined, add the vanilla and beat for 2mins.
-Pour into a prepared tube pan and bake in a 350°degree oven for 1hour and 10mins.
-Remove and allow to cool for 10mins in the pan before turning out onto a serving plate to continue cooling.
