Praline Crunch
PRALINE CRUNCH
Prep Time: 10 minutes | Bake Time: 50 to 60 minutes | Yield: 10 cups, approximately
YOU’LL NEED:
8 C. Quaker Oatmeal Squares cereal*
2 C. chopped pecans OR 1 cup chopped pecans and 1 cup sliced almonds
2/3 C. Karo Light OR Dark Corn Syrup
1/2 C. packed brown sugar
1/4 C. butter OR margarine
1 Tsp. pure vanilla extract
1/2 Tsp. baking soda
HOW TO MAKE:
1-Preheat oven to 275°F.
2-Combine cereal and pecans in a greased 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
3-Combine corn syrup, brown sugar and butter in a microwave-safe bowl.
4-Microwave on HIGH (100%) 90 seconds; stir, then microwave 30 seconds longer or until mixture boils.
5-Remove from microwave; stir in vanilla and baking soda. (Mixture will bubble and foam.)
6-Pour syrup mixture over cereal and nuts, stirring until well coated.
7-Bake 50 minutes (or up to 60 minutes for extra crunchy snack mix), stirring every 15 minutes. R
8-emove from oven and spread mixture on a large cookie sheet.
9-When cool, break into pieces. Store in an airtight container.
10-You may substitute shredded wheat cereal and/or other crunchy square shaped cereal for the Quaker® Oatmeal squares if desired.
